A week-long project to design a small room, on the duck pond of Virginia Tech, to display one chair a month from a private collection.
The building frames the chair on all four sides with wood framing and glass. From the outside, the structure is white to draw attention, but inside it returns to its natural color to blend into the landscape and put the focus on the chair. The walkway across the water is mimicked on the interior to form a pedestal for the display.
Site Plan, Perspective, Plan
The design puts the focus on the chair by framing the view of it on the outside with its contrasting white color and blends back to a natural wood framing on the interior. The walkway across the water continues on the interior, forming a pedestal to display the chair.
